New Music & Tour: Only The Sea Slugs
Sydney rockers Only The Sea Slugs are proud to unveil their new single ‘Big Sky’, the first track to be lifted from their forthcoming mini album ‘Street Music’, due out later this year.
A rollicking, haphazardly timed narrative germinating from a simple guitar line, ‘Big Sky’ speaks of the bizarre loneliness of living in a big city. As singer / guitarist Sasha puts it, it’s “basically a tune about chasing your tail in a large city, and letting go of useless s**t.”
‘Big Sky’ and the upcoming ‘Street Music’ marks the first official release from Only The Sea Slugs since their debut EP
‘Dreamstate’ was released in 2009. Heralded for their brooding, enchanting sound and their absorbing live presence, ‘Dreamstate’ followed a highly-prized collection of demos and singles that saw the band garner themselves a bit of a “Band to Watch” status in and around Sydney and indeed, nationally. Their 2007 recording ‘You’re The Reason Drugs Are Useless’, plus their 2008 track ‘We, The Odd One’ picked up strong play everywhere Triple J and FBi through to College Radio in the US, France, Italy and the UK.
In 2008 ‘You’re The Reason Drugs Are Useless’ also caught the attention of Chupa Chups, who along with Myspace, Street Press Australia and a host of other industry supporters, picked OTSS as the winner of their STICK OUT competition. The band beat over one thousand other entrants nationally to be crowned the winner, picking up $100 000 worth of prizes, including the opportunity to record their debut EP ‘Dreamstate’.
But now, the attention turns to brand new single ‘Big Sky’ and the forthcoming ‘Street Music’.
Only The Sea Slugs will be hitting Brisbane on Thursday March 24th @ Lambda Lambda Lambda – Alhambra Lounge
