With the inaugural Red Deer Music Festival taking place in 2010, the organizers hoped the event would offer punters ‘A fresh and honest alternative to mainstream and over-commercialized festivals.’

The event also offered local bands, local performance opportunities in a festival environment.

In 2011, the festival will be back and better then ever with the 24 hour event taking place in a natural amphitheatre, beneath the rolling mountains of the pristine D’Aguilar Range, just outside and North of Brisbane. The event will kick off at 12pm on June 18

Nine piece dubstep outfit Dubmarine will headline the festival along with fellow Brisbane band The Cairos.

A new addition to the festival is the JAM TENT. Put together in collaboration with A-Venue Moreton Bay, the Jam Tent is a chill out space for muso’s to connect and jam from 1pm-4pm. A mini café will also be situated in this new addition for the non-musical people to revive and enjoy the acoustic tunes. Basic PA will be set up, with indie pop musician Sterling Silver facilitating. Any one is welcome to get up and jam.

With food, in my mind, being as equally as important as the entertainment at a festival, The Red Deer festival assures punters there will even more food options available this year!

This is one event that you do not want to miss.

One day, one night, one stage, one Deer… RED DEER!
