Win! A Double Pass to Frankly! It’s a Pop Festival

Sep 01, 11 Win! A Double Pass to Frankly! It’s a Pop Festival

Frankly! is back for Brisbane Festival 2011 with more esoteric songstresses, enigmatic audio mavericks and otherwise audacious pop deconstructionists. The 2011 festival features a collection of visionary artists and bands from the USA, Japan and Australia.

Making its debut in 2009 and graduating its sophomore year with acts such as Xiu Xiu, High Places and Crayon Fields, Frankly! quickly raised eyebrows in Australia’s indie scene for its innovative program and unique setting at Brisbane’s Powerhouse.

This year Frankly! pays special attention to the burgeoning Los Angeles Hypnagogic-pop underground by showcasing the Not Not Fun label. Easily one of the most prolific and eccentric labels on the face of the planet, we welcome Not Not Fun icons LA Vampires and label mates Wet Hair.

Highlighting new avant pop from Japan, Frankly! plays host to Tokyo Folktronica artist Miko (backed by Celer) and Osaka eccentric song queen Ytamo.

From Australia, Frankly! proudly lists back porch indie folk Twerps to round out the lineup, the event is set to be the biggest yet.

Just to get the ball rolling…
    We’re currently listening to:
    EAST 17 – “Steam”.
Doesn’t get much dirter/guiltier than that!

  2. Lucy Davis /

    Oh gosh this is embarrassing!
    Shaggy – Mister Boombastic.

  3. i’m walkin away, from all the troubles in my life, with mr craig david.

my little brother was the local dead-ringer for craig. his subsequent man crush through grades 5 & 6 was pathetic but infectious. the rest of craig’s shite i survived, anti-pop sensibilities prevailing, walking away however is still a proper dive into the craig hole.

i have similarly cavernous holes for jt – ryb, bs – t, and gs – wywf.
