Review: Ball Park Music, North East Party House, The Jungle Giants @ The Zoo
It’s is a rare Saturday night after a rain and hail that Brisbane decides to head out. Normally when the rain fails, very few feet make it out of doors and into the valley. However Saturday night’s line up and the Zoo changed all that.
The Jungle Giants opened the night performance as the crowd started to arrive. With songs such as ‘Mr Polite’ and ‘No One Needs to Know’ the Jungle Giants are emerging as a band to watch and proved they are comfortable on stage.
North East Party House was next on the line up, ready to dance. The mood was electric and the band played their brand of dance music.
The main act tonight was Ball Park Music, who came onto stage and didn’t once break from their high energy, ready to party mood. The crowd couldn’t get enough of the six piece group, from their opening ‘Fresh Fruit in the Sun’ to the final, ground-breaking ‘iFly’.
The band is certainly establishing themselves as playful and a little devious. Front man Sam Cromack is at ease on stage, comfortable chatting about song inspiration whilst still managing to jump all over the stage, sing, play guitar and even pour wine all over fans front and centre (my white shirt thanked me for being closer to the middle). Ball Park Music was a huge hit with the crowd. Songs “All I want is You’ “Sad, Rude, Future Dude’ and even a version of Marilyn Manson’s ‘Beautiful People’ created a floor shaking stir.
The tour, which is in celebration of their debut album ‘Happiness and the Suburbs’ was loved by all at their Brisbane show. All bands performed well and gave a relaxed, fun look into Brisbane music today. If you get the chance to see these guys perform, especially to such a full and receptive audience I would defiantly recommend it. Even if it’s raining you are promised a fun night out.
