WIN! A Double Pass To Big Day Out 2012 Gold Coast

Jan 11, 12 WIN! A Double Pass To Big Day Out 2012 Gold Coast

It’s a pretty big deal to turn 20 years old. I’m sure the many, many people behind the Big Day Out festivals over the years agree with that as well, watching what was once a child come of age in such a glorious manner! What is now the biggest touring festival in the world and one that has a played a part of sorts in many of our own lives, Big Day Out is a treasure to Australian culture and entertainment.

With a lineup headlined by Kanye, Soundgarden and Kasabian, it’s obvious that this year’s event will be just as enthralling, energetic and inspiring as any other.

In saying that, we want to know which year’s lineup has touched you the most, and why. Head to the Big Day Out Vault and take a walk down memory lane (also, get a bit of help from good old wikipedia if you need it!). Just comment in the box below – our favourite entry will win a double pass to head along to the Big Day Out 2012 at the Gold Coast on Sunday January 22.

The competition closes at midnight, Wednesday January 18, and the winning entrant will be notified via email straight after.

Happy reminiscing!!

Big Day Out 2006 in Melbourne definitely touched my heart the most. Not only was it the first BDO I ever attended, the lineup was sensational and arrived in time for the new unearthed artists Kings Of Leon. Wolfmother hit the blue stage to a large, and appreciative audience while the Living End kept the crowd alive smashing out of all my favourite tunes. If i could put a mixture of all my favourite styles of music together, this was the festival to match. Then the White Stripes roamed the stage, and for a two piece they still managed to provide a fairly electric mix of sounds. But to top the night off I couldn’t miss out on the masters of the electronic genre, also know as pioneers for their live sets and original dance tunes, The Presets were celebrated and enjoyed by all!

  2. I’ve been going since the beginning – Sydney 1992 is most definitely still my favourite BDO, with Nirvana and Violent Femmes.
WHat more could you really ask for? Such a good festival, I hope it goes for another 20 years!

2004 for sure. Metallica, the Strokes, Muse, Something For Kate, Dandies, Mars Volta, and Kamahl on the side stage.
